It was a lavish affair on Wednesday night at London’s O2 Arena as some of the music industry’s finest came together to celebrate the past year’s achievements in British music.

The big winners of the night were none other than Artic Monkeys who opened the show with a great performance. They scooped up Best British Group as well as British Album of the Year with AM.

Other Brits that won big included superstar boy-band One Direction who picked up Best Video and the Global Success gong for their phenomenal achievement worldwide. East-Londoners Rudimental grabbed the Brit Award for British Single with “Waiting All Night” featuring Ella Eyre, which has no doubt dominated the airwaves in the last year. Generally, the biggest winners came from the genres of pop and indie as Bastille, and Ellie Goulding also picked up awards.

On the international side, viewers at home and the audience were wowed by Beyonce’s performance of her track “XO” in a dazzling blue gown. The awards were in the presence of the likes of Katy Perry, Nicole Scherzinger and Bruno Mars who performed his single “Treasure” and also won International Male Solo Artist.

David Bowie also cemented his legacy and showed he’s still going strong by winning British Male Solo Artist, and despite not being present to pick up the award, Kate Moss did her best to celebrate for the singer.
