It’s safe to say that Black Sabbath where the runaway winners at this years Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards, after what the lead singer Ozzy Osbourne has described as “a shocking year”.

At the eighth edition of this prestigious awards ceremony, the rockers picked up no less than three awards, including the much coveted “Living Legends Award”. Previous winners of this award include ZZ Top, Iggy Popp, Alice Cooper and Jeff Beck. As well as this, they also picked up gongs for album of the year, for their album “13”. The event of the year celebrated them reaching the No.1 spot around the world including their biggest ever hit in the US.

Classic Rocks magazine editor and chief Scott Rowley was quoted saying,

This year’s winners are a who’s-who of British pioneers, from Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, the Stones and Fleetwood Mac winning the popular vote to John Mayall, Mott The Hoople and Wilko Johnson honoured in our special awards. And with the Temperance Movement and Virginmarys coming through, there’s still hope for the future of British rock too.”
