J.Cole’s ‘Born Sinner‘ has outsold Kanye West ‘Yeezus’, including Wale’s ‘The Gifted,‘ and has climbed the Billboard 200 album charts reaching No.1.
‘Born Sinner’ sold 58,000 copies last week, according to figures from Nielsen SoundScan. The album made a relatively rare climb from No.2 to No.1 this week. This is a chart-topping record for the rapper, with his second album reaching No.1.
Billboard states, that there has only been 76 albums after subsequent weeks, reach the top of the album chart, but had not debuted at No.1
To date, ‘Born Sinner’ has sold 439,000 copies since its release June 18th, outselling West’s ‘Yeezus‘ which reached No.1 three weeks ago and has only sold 431,000 copies.
Initially Wale’s ‘The Gifted‘ had knocked West off the top spot last week, but has dropped to No.2 this week with sales of 50,000. ‘Yezzus‘ has fallen to No.3 in the charts having only sold 39,000 copies.
Next week’s chart is likely to get a little more interesting, with the release of Jay’Z’s new album ‘Magna Carta…Holy Grail‘, which critics expect to reach the top of the Billboard 200 chart, with sales estimated at 350,000 to 400, 000 copies in its first week.
