US rapper Jay-Z for the first time, has reached the top of the UK’ album charts with his new release “Magna Carta…Holy Grail”, sales figures showed on Sunday.

Jay-Z’s new album has knocked the English folk rock band Mumford & Sons off the number one spot, according to the Official Charts Company. Music veteran Rod Stewart’s album ‘Time’ climbed three places to number two, nearly going head to head with the rapper.

‘Magna Carta…Holy Grail’ features guest appearances from his wife Beyonce and Justin Timberlake. In record history, Jay-Z has had seven of his previous albums enter the British top 40, but none of them have reached the number one position.

This is a huge achievement for the rapper who was the main attraction at last weekend’s Wireless Festival.  Purchase ‘Magna Carta…Holy Grail’ on iTunes today!
