Alfie Templeman has a god-given gift for grooves. At eighteen-years-old, the Bedfordshire singer-songwriter’s sound is almost criminally infectious; both steeped in fizzing, neon 80s tradition and yet somehow brimming with modernity. His latest track, “Everybody’s Gonna Love Somebody”, a track Templeman wrote when he was just fourteen after a Tears for Fears listening binge, bounces with a sprightly guitar rhythm, interlaced with sprawling sax lines. It’s a bolt of electric blue, drenched in nostalgia from start to finish – a three-minute shot of sunshine that calls to mind a better world where the sun never sets and falling love is easy.
