While dance music often a three-minute shot of hedonism, singer-songwriter Dean Robert’s latest single “Morning” is all about the hangover. While the track is a billowing soap bubble of pop and tropical drops, its carefree beat barely conceals the lyrics which leave us with something bitter to taste. “The only doubt is when I close my eyes / Will you be there in the morning?”, he asks, confronting the hollow feeling after one too many loveless one-night stands. While Robert is now anchored in the Berlin EDM scene, he began in Ireland, where, at Dublin’s BCFE music school, he learned to craft his voice to the seamless, pop-primed level he brings to the table with “Morning”.
