Joshua Luke Smith is back with a new music video, ‘Carry Me’

Joshua Luke Smith demonstrates an understanding of how to write a good hook and combine it with the streetwise patter of UK hip-hop – no mean feat considering the BBC 1Xtra favourite is both dyslexic and dyspraxic.

The video for Carry Me sees Joshua reminisce about school days when he got up to no good with his friends, and even includes an appearance from his mother – or someone acting as her! – during the chorus. The sing-along is not that far away from the vibe on some of The Streets’ best work, and as Mike Skinner proved, there is room for a story telling style when it comes to urban meets pop.

Joshua proves he can rap and sing to a good standard and this is a promising start. We look forward to hearing more from Joshua Luke Smith
